NUMBER 12 STORE (PAINTED CANVAS STORE) (M046)

Apparently built circa 1777 as a double-fronted house matching that at Number 2 Store and Furbishers' Shop, it was altered during the mid-twentieth century when the corrugated sheet roof may have been added.  Like most of the buildings in Morice Yard it is constructed of limestone ashlar and rubble.  A lead rainwater head to the left of the main entrance bears the date 1777.  Latterly used as the Painted Canvas Store.

Under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and succeeding legislation Number 2 Store has Listed Building Grade 2* status.
