Number 3 Store is said to be one of the last buildings erected in the Gun Wharf, along with Number 6 Sail Loft opposite it.  Number 4 Store (M070) is to its right in the photograph above.

It is built of squared, course limestone with granite dressings and a hipped, slate roof.  The western end has two round-arched doorways with timber doors and a tripartite fanlight.  The northern side has an iron spiral fire escape on the outside and half bricked up ground floor windows.  Both floors were probably originally open-plan but the ground floor has had partitions added at some time and wooden pillars have been replaced with steel ones.

Under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and succeeding legislation Number 3 Store has Listed Building grade 2 status.
