BRANCH LINE, BERE ALSTON STATION TO CALLINGTON STATION

GUNNISLAKE SIGNAL BOX

Gunnislake Signal Box was opened at 4 miles 47 chains mile post mileage from Bere Alston Station by the Plymouth, Devonport and South Western Junction Railway Company on March 2nd 1908.  It was at ground level and contained a 10-lever frame.  The block instruments were in the booking office.

The two sections between Calstock and Gunnislake and between Gunnislake and Callington were operated on the Electric Token system.

In 1957 Gunnislake Signal Box, which was 2 miles 1,584 yards from Calstock Signal Box, was open on Mondays to Fridays from 5.10am until 10pm; on Saturdays from 5.10am until 11.20pm; and on Sundays between 8.30am and 1.25pm, and 6.10pm until 11.20pm.  The Box was not provided with a closing switch.

The Box was closed on or as from May 5th 1968.
