RAILWAYS IN OLD DEVONPORT  |  CALLINGTON BRANCH
BRANCH LINE, BERE ALSTON STATION TO CALLINGTON STATION

CHILSWORTHY SIDING

The Railway Clearing House "Hand Book of Railway Stations, etc." records that in 1929 there was only one siding at Chilsworthy, that for the Messrs Hill, Westlake and Company Limited's Brick and Tile Works.  It was administered by Gunnislake Station.

A second siding Siding had been added by the 1956 edition of the Hand Book.  It appears to have been a coal merchant's siding at one time but was taken over by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in 1942.  It was administered through Gunnislake Station.  What the Ministry used it for is not known.
