POPULATION OF OLD DEVONPORT

The population of Plymouth-Dock in 1733, only 42 years after its commencement, was estimated at 3,361.

By the time of the first numerical census taken on March 10th 1801 it had risen to 23,747.

The corresponding census figures after that were (with actual census date in brackets):
